Where we sit in the Internet timeline

Wonderstore Developments Ltd started life over 10 years ago as a vehicle to promote an online shopping application. Based mainly in Tokyo, the first sale was to a woman from America ordering a $200 hairbrush from Japan that had been imported from the UK, paying with a credit card gateway based in the Channel Islands.

We saw the Internet was about to change everything and as much by luck as by design were there at the beginning.

From then on we focused on building the applications behind websites and the way that people interacted with them, amassing a wealth of expertise in the technical side of things, but also in the crucial aspects of usability, marketing and conversion.

Insurance: The Quotiva^® Network, Quote Systems, Synapse

In the early days we worked with clients from all kinds of industries, but since 2001 our primary focus has been the UK insurance sector. We have built everything from small CMS based sites for CII members to the large document repository of the London Market Brokers Committee accessed daily as a vital information source. Our Synapse Application Server powers connections between insurers and agency networks and we have consulted on various broker / insurer technology arrangements.

If you′re a broker you might have seen our quote engine technology on sites around the internet powering public and broker facing online quotes for niche markets (read more at quotiva.co.uk), or in fact you might use our systems to get quotes from some of our clients yourself. Since 2008 you might be part of the Quotiva Network — a system designed purely to match prospects with brokers for niche classes of business (read more at quotiva.net/intermediaries). Quotiva Network has struck a chord - our broker clients use words like benchmark when they talk about us.

The people who do the work

We′re a small team — that keeps our overheads low and flexibility up. The people you′re most likely to come into contact with are Christopher Wright (MD), Tim Lawlor (Account Manager), Thales Jacobi (Lead Coder) and Tony Wright (Insurance Liaison). You probably won′t meet our advisors though they play an important role for us in shaping our strategy and include Aristide Stucchi (Italy) and Greg McCoy (USA). We′re based in Henley on Thames in south Oxfordshire.

And of course — our friends and colleagues throughout the insurance industry are constantly called upon for their opinion and input into our products and services.
